Ball by Ball Live Score Commentary

9:45pm And that is all from our coverage. Have a good night!

Kane Williamson: Very good performance. The bowlers set the tone first up and we continued. They batted a long way down and made life difficult. Then Martin with the hundred and good contributions from the rest. We were good in the field, hope we back that up. [Starting a new series] is just going back to basics and today was a good example of that.

Mashrafe Mortaza: Struggled with the bat, lost too many wickets at the start. Can’t make excuses. We need [at least] a week to get used to the conditions, but I don’t want to give excuses. Need to work on our batting.

Martin Guptill: Good to see the guys restrict Bangladesh. It is nice to see the boys home. Time off [coz of back injury] helps – sometimes yes, sometimes no. Happy to get some runs.

Martin Guptill is Man of the Match.

9:30pm A win and a chance to be back in bed at a reasonable hour at last. New Zealand ticked most boxes today, most importantly runs from their openers. They were both in it. Nicholls using the relative non-pressure of a slender chase to get himself a half-century in what is still a new role for him. And Guptill finally getting past the teens to notch up a hundred AND finish the innings with it. Williamson’s cheap dismissal possibly the only worry for New Zealand today, who also got in good game time for all players involved. Solid from the home team. Bangladesh had to deal with what a lot of subcontinental sides face when they don’t get practice games ahead of overseas tours. A bit of T20 hangover too, perhaps, coming in straight from the BPL. Couldn’t deal with the swinging ball, couldn’t do a lot when the ball stopped swinging either. Some injudicious shots today from their batsmen and they were only in this vaguely.

44.3 1 Mashrafe Mortaza to Guptill that’s 1-0 to New Zealand. Length ball angled in at leg stump, stays big on it and punches into the leg side off the back foot 1 run

Arsalan: “@Blake : it’s 8007 “

44.2 6 Mashrafe Mortaza to Guptill he will not play nice! Full on middle stump, allows it to skid on and uses the angle to almost check-punch this in the end. A pick up over the midwicket boundary with a subdued follow through SIX

elwarko: “Guppy, get a single and play nice.”

44.1 0 Mashrafe Mortaza to Guptill length on off stump, punched to extra cover on the up no run

End of Over No.44 New Zealand 226/2 Last Over (8 runs)

43.4 0 Soumya Sarkar to Taylor length on middle stump, flicked to midwicket no run

Blake: “Eager to see if Ross can chase down Fleming’s 8037 this series. With his current form i wouldn’t bet against it”

43.3 4 Soumya Sarkar to Taylor length on the pads, leans into it and tickles it fine FOUR

Bob: “Bangladesh really needed the likes of sabbir and Souyma to step up with the bat here but once again they have disappointed a quick 30 isn’t good enough, gotta keep your head and bat long, especially if your big guns happen not to fire, needed at least 270+ to be competitive today, probably even more “

43.1 0 Soumya Sarkar to Guptill length on leg stump, nudged to midwicket no run

42.5 0 Mashrafe Mortaza to Taylor length at off stump, defended to extra cover no run

42.3 0 Mashrafe Mortaza to Guptill slower ball at a length outside off, mistimed punch on the up. Off the under-edge no run
42.2 0 Mashrafe Mortaza to Guptill length outside off, punched back to the bowler no run
42.1 1 Mashrafe Mortaza to Taylor overpitched outside off, driven firmly to cover’s right. He dives and gets a hand on it, but can only parry it to his right 1 run

End of Over No.42 New Zealand 216/2 Last Over (10 runs)

41.6 1 Mustafizur Rahman to Taylor short and wide outside off. Looks to cut. Gets it off the toe-end to sweeper 1 run
41.5 1 Mustafizur Rahman to Guptill length outside off, punched to sweeper on the up 1 run
41.4 0 Mustafizur Rahman to Guptill short at the ribs, mistimed pull to midwicket no run
41.3 4 Mustafizur Rahman to Guptill sliced to the extra cover boundary. He was deceived there, but it’s safe in the end. Full offcutter wide outside off. Reaches out and looks to carve it over mid-off, seemingly. But the bat turns in his hands as he’s too early on this FOUR
41.2 4 Mustafizur Rahman to Guptill short of a length, looks like an offcutter, So this sits up unlike the previous ball. Time to cover the line and pull to the square leg boundary FOUR
41.1 0 Mustafizur Rahman to Guptill short and wide and slanted across him. Looks for the upper cut but is beaten no run

End of Over No.41 New Zealand 206/2 Last Over (8 runs)

Darren: “great to see guptill. back in the runs “

Ashis : “Injury of Shakib has made BD bowling look like a club team’s attack especially when there are two RHB in the middle…everyone can easily feel the importance of Shakib.”

40.6 0 Sabbir Rahman to Taylor length at off stump, defended into the off side no run
40.5 4 Sabbir Rahman to Taylor short, down leg side, stands tall and swats it to the long leg boundary. As if you could do anything else with that FOUR
40.4 1 Sabbir Rahman to Guptill century No. 15 for Guptill, brought up with a drive to long-off. Full ball outside off, leans in nicely and gets it past the bowler. His second against Bangladesh. And his first score of greater than 20 since his last hundred, seven ODIs ago. Gets out of that slump 1 run
40.3 1 Sabbir Rahman to Taylor short and wide outside. Late cut, can’t get past Tamim’s slide to the right 1 run
40.2 1 Sabbir Rahman to Guptill full on off, driven to long-off 1 run
40.1 1 Sabbir Rahman to Taylor short of a length on leg stump, punched to long-on off the back foot 1 run

End of Over No.40 New Zealand 198/2 Last Over (8 runs)

39.6 0 Mohammad Saifuddin to Guptill yorker just outside off, chopped to point on the bounce no run

Who will Win Bangladesh tour of New Zealand, 1st ODI: New Zealand v Bangladesh ?

With ten nearly equally matched groups, the importance of every game can’t be understated in this tournament. Both sides are expected to emerge out packaged full-strength against each other in what claims to be a cracker of a competition. Contemplating that the 2 sides on newspaper,Bangladesh are somewhat more power-packed unit whereas New Zealand possess the benefit of being a steady side. For this and another above-mentioned motives, we believe the Bangladesh are far more likely to emerge victorious in what will be among the most crucial experiences for either side.
