Ball by Ball Live Score Commentary

End of Over No.20 99/9 This Over (3 runs)

Sydney Sixers win by 33 runs and that’s a superb performance with the ball and in the field. They only had 132 on the board, and had to fight for every one of those, but this was a difficult (and poor) T20 pitch. The Sixers spinners played a vital role, Ben Manenti on debut was outstanding as was Steve O’Keefe. Another good all-round day for Tom Curran as well with a vital hand with the bat followed by 3 for 18. Important win for the Sixers after two defeats, although they still have questions over the top order. The Renegades were well below their best with the bat and could have to contend with these home conditions all season. We’ll be back tomorrow for Hobart Hurricanes against Perth Scorchers which will be Cameron Bancroft’s return from his ban. See you for that but, for now, from Andrew McGlashan it’s goodnight.

19.6 1 Curran to Usman Shinwari clubs a full delivery down to long-on 1 run
19.5 1 Curran to Richardson driven into the off side 1 run
19.4 1 Curran to Usman Shinwari slower ball, driven to deep cover 1 run

Stu Nairn: “Big Bash really hasn’t lived up to its name this year.”

19.3 0 Curran to Usman Shinwari digs out a yorker to the off side no run
19.2 0 Curran to Usman Shinwari close! A slower ball yorker which slips between the batsman’s legs and leg stump no run

Tom Curran is on a hat-trick…won’t have many better chances

19.1 W Curran to Boyce low full toss which is clubbed to deep midwicket, good catch by the very safe Silk OUT
CJ Boyce c Silk b Curran 13 (14b 0x4 1×6) SR: 92.85

37 needed off 6…good game to tie from here

End of Over No.19 96/8 This Over (6 runs)

18.6 1 Dwarshuis to Boyce full, wide outside off, jabbed to backward point 1 run
18.5 0 Dwarshuis to Boyce almost loses his off stump as a yorker goes between his legs as he tries to flick to the leg side no run

Pradipto: “The quality or lack of in these BBL games just shows the kind of talent available in AUS at the moment. Deeply disturbing”

End of Over No.18 90/8 This Over (4 runs)

17.5 0 Abbott to Boyce plays around a very full delivery outside off, probably beat him as a full toss no run
17.4 1 Abbott to Richardson leg stump yorker, clipped to short fine leg. Would have been close with a direct hit 1 run

17.2 0 Abbott to Richardson gets the yorker in, jabbed back to the bowler no run

End of Over No.17 86/8 This Over (8 runs)

16.6 W Curran to Wildermuth finds long-on! And the Sixers close in further. He struck this pretty sweetly. Curran didn’t quite get the yorker in, Wildermuth middled it over the leg side but didn’t quite get the placement OUT
JD Wildermuth c Silk b Curran 6 (13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 46.15
16.5 1 Curran to Boyce full and straight, Boyce goes deep in his crease and creams this to long-on 1 run
16.4 6 Curran to Boyce that’s big! Moved across his crease and picked up a delivery that was pretty wide outside off, Curran and seen him move, but Boyce manages to swing it over deep midwicket. Was a back-of-the-hand slower ball SIX
16.3 1 Curran to Wildermuth slips into the pads, clipped to deep midwicket…they need way more than singles 1 run
16.2 0 Curran to Wildermuth dropped, almost a terrific rebound effort from Curran! A full ball, jabbed back to him, stuck up his left hand and almost caught it coming back down. But it’s a dot ball no run
16.1 0 Curran to Wildermuth slower ball outside off, back of the hand, goes for a slog sweep and he’s way too early on the shot no run

David: “Manenti for MOM on debut!” Curran returns to close out

End of Over No.16 78/7 This Over (3 runs)

Another terrific performance from O’Keefe as he finishes with 2 for 19. Sharma G: “O’keefe what a season he is having brilliant bowling.”

15.4 1 O’Keefe to Wildermuth plays back in the crease and works a shorter delivery to the leg side 1 run
15.3 1 O’Keefe to Boyce same ball, same shot and this time he scampers a single to point 1 run
15.2 0 O’Keefe to Boyce cuts this away from off stump to point no run
15.1 1 O’Keefe to Wildermuth full on the pads, flicked out to deep midwicket 1 run
