Ball by Ball Live Score Commentary

That’s all from us. Thanks for joining and see you soon

With the win tonight, the Heat have actually kept alive a theoretical chance to progress. They have to win their remaining matches, hope that the Melbourne Stars lose their remaining matches and also need some other results to go their way.

Lynn: Can’t really put a finger on it, know we can’t progress but good to have a win. The guys were exceptional with the ball, especially Kuhnemann, on debut, bowling in the powerplay. I wanted to make sure we didn’t make the same mistake as we did a week ago in Melbourne.

10.35pm And the Heat manage to keep their noses ahead of the Scorchers in the battle of the backbenchers with an emphatic six wicket win. Furthermore, they give something to the home crowd to cheer about with their first win at the Gabba this season. Chris Lynn led the way with some monstrous hits over the fence but was largely measured in the way he went about the chase, holding fort as the others batted around him.

17.3 6 Tye to Lynn length on middle and and what a way to finish things off. That hung high up in the air forever but also had more than enough distance and that’s the win for the Heat SIX
17.2 1 Tye to Ross length outside off, slapped past point but straight to third-man 1 run
17.1 4 Tye to Ross length, angled in, and he steers it audaciously late over the keeper FOUR

End of Over No.17 119/4 This Over (5 runs)

16.6 2 Hinchliffe to Lynn full toss on leg stump, pushed to deep squareleg with soft hands, they turn around for the second and a better throw might have had him. Instead, it’s Lynn’s fifty off just 38 balls 2 runs
16.5 1 Hinchliffe to Ross full outside leg and he somehow manages to reverse sweep it along the ground to deep cover 1 run
16.4 1 Hinchliffe to Lynn length on middle, shuffles across and defends to midwicket 1 run
16.3 1 Hinchliffe to Ross full outside off, inviting the drive and the batsman obliges, pushing it wide off long-off 1 run
16.2 0 Hinchliffe to Ross length on off, pushed back to the bowler no run
16.1 0 Hinchliffe to Ross full on off, reverse sweep, connects well but straight to short third-man no run

End of Over No.16 114/4 This Over (11 runs)

15.6 1 Kelly to Ross full toss, angled in from wide off the crease, pushed to long-on 1 run
15.5 W Kelly to Renshaw knocked him over!. Excellent yorker, tails back in and he can’t jam his bat down on it in time. OUT
MT Renshaw b Kelly 15 (13b 0x4 1×6) SR: 115.38
15.4 6 Kelly to Renshaw full on middle and that’s come out of nowhere!. Just an extension of defence, bit of a check-drive and the timing carries it over the fence with ease SIX
15.3 2 Kelly to Renshaw full outside off, crunched to the right of deep cover 2 runs
15.2 0 Kelly to Renshaw full outside off, defended to point no run
15.1 2 Kelly to Renshaw length and drifting in to the pads, clipped to deep squareleg 2 runs

End of Over No.15 103/3 This Over (4 runs)

14.6 0 Usman Qadir to Lynn no run
14.5 1 Usman Qadir to Renshaw length on middle, lunges forward and pushes it to midwicket 1 run
14.4 0 Usman Qadir to Renshaw length on middle, spinning back in, the batsman is struck on the front pad but missing leg no run
14.3 1 Usman Qadir to Lynn full toss on off, pushed to deep cover 1 run
14.2 1 Usman Qadir to Renshaw length on middle, shuffles across and pushes it to midwicket 1 run

dez: “I full agree that BBL08 has been mediocre. However i don’t get why people are talking about it being too long – IPL 2018 was 50 days long, BBL08 is 60, which whilst it’s 10 days longer that includes days off for Christmas day & during Australian ODI’s/Tests!!”

14.1 1 Usman Qadir to Lynn short outside off, pushed to deep cover 1 run

Stuart: “@Jasnesh – 100% right man. This tournament has been a snoozefest. Way too long and marginalising Tests, Shield and 50-over events. Point?”

End of Over No.14 99/3 This Over (5 runs)

13.6 1 Behrendorff to Lynn full toss outside off, hammered down the ground to long-off 1 run
13.5 0 Behrendorff to Lynn yorker outside off, tries to squeeze it out and is beaten. There’s a stifled appeal and they have gone to the third umpire to see if he hit it and if it was a bump ball or not. Soft signal is not out. Looks like the sound was the bat hitting in the ground after the ball had already passed the bat. The not out call stands no run
13.4 0 Behrendorff to Lynn full toss on middle, pushed back to the bowler no run
13.3 4 Behrendorff to Lynn full outside off and hammered past long-off’s left FOUR
13.2 0 Behrendorff to Lynn full on middle, drilled back to the bowler, who nonchalantly picks it up with his left hand in his follow through no run
13.1 0 Behrendorff to Lynn length outside off, pushed to point no run

Jasnesh: “Another one-sided game in this expanded bbl format. Too often we’ve seen mediocre at best batting. Bowling too has been average. CA have to rethink their strategies moving forward. A bloated product does not bode well for the future of Australian cricket.”

End of Over No.13 94/3 This Over (6 runs)

12.6 0 Hinchliffe to Renshaw length outside off, pushed to cover no run
12.6 1 Hinchliffe to Renshaw 1 wide
12.5 1 Hinchliffe to Lynn length outside off and too wide 1 run
