Ball by Ball Live Score Commentary

That’s it from Varun and me. Thanks for joining us and see you soon

Kohli: Amazing, three clinical games from us, relentlessness of the side pleasing. Haven’t had a break for a while, hectic Australia tour and now this. We are three-nil up so I can relax a little. Some outstanding talent coming through. Saw Shubman batting in the nets, I wasn’t even 10 percent of that at 19.

Williamson: They are teaching us a lesson and we are required to rise up to the challenge. There were small improvements today but we need more. Wasn’t easy to get momentum on this wicket, Ross was brilliant. With the ball, we are going okay but we need early wickets.

Mohammed Shami is the Player of the Match: difficult to bowl against the wind, but somebody has to do the job, it’s part of the game.

10.23pm No middle over jitters, no last over finishes, that was as comprehensive as it gets from India as they win a series in New Zealand after ten years. They have gotten better and better since the loss to Australia in the first ODI at Sydney and have thumped New Zealand in three anti-climactic ODIs. As is their wont, two from the top order, Rohit and Kohli today, set it up nicely and Rayudu, who had looked badly out of touch before the last ODI, batted with freedom, as did Dinesh Karthik, included instead of an injured Dhoni today. This makes it three series wins for India outside Asia in the last one year, starting with the hammering of South Africa, a closer series against Australia and another comfortable win here. England was the only place they couldn’t conquer, but they’d be happy to change that at the World Cup.

43.1 5 Bracewell to Rayudu short ball, too high and over the keeper for five wides. An underwhelming finish to what has been an underwhelming series, thoroughly dominated by India, and sealed three-nil with two matches to go 5 wides

End of Over No.43 India 240/3 This Over (13 runs)

42.6 0 Sodhi to Karthik full on off, driven to cover who does well to stop it with a dive to his left no run

Sehrish: “I bet this time a subcontinent team (Pakistan or Indian) will lift the World Cup 2019 trophy. ”

42.5 0 Sodhi to Karthik length on off, defended to point no run
42.5 1 Sodhi to Karthik short and wide and called 1 wide
42.4 4 Sodhi to Karthik short ball, goes down on one knee and hammers it to the deep squareleg fence. Had to say whether it was a sweep or a pull but effective, nevertheless FOUR
42.3 1 Sodhi to Rayudu full on off, pushed to long-off 1 run
42.2 1 Sodhi to Karthik short, and he was ready for it, rocks back and punches it through the off side 1 run
42.1 6 Sodhi to Karthik full toss, down the track and deposited on the grass banks over the deep midwicket fence SIX

End of Over No.42 India 227/3 This Over (6 runs)

41.6 1 Ferguson to Karthik length outside off, steered to third-man 1 run
41.5 0 Ferguson to Karthik length outside off, left alone no run
41.4 1 Ferguson to Rayudu short outside off, pushed to deep cover 1 run
41.3 4 Ferguson to Rayudu short ball and out comes the ramp from Rayudu, right over the keeper’s head. Clever shot FOUR
41.2 0 Ferguson to Rayudu length outside off, nearly chopped on, but past the stumps and stopped by the diving keeper no run
41.1 0 Ferguson to Rayudu length outside off, left alone no run

Reuben Sylveste: “New Zealand may have taken things a bit for granted after the defeat of Srilanka. Now, the Lankans are not as great as they once were, so cannot be used for benchmarking performance. See what’s happening to them in Australia?”

End of Over No.41 India 221/3 This Over (3 runs)

40.6 0 Boult to Karthik length outside off, defended to point no run
40.5 1 Boult to Rayudu slower ball, curved back in a little from middle, pushed to mid-on and they scamper a single 1 run
40.4 1 Boult to Karthik full outside off, pushed past the right of point 1 run
40.3 0 Boult to Karthik length outside, climbs as it leaves the batsman who has a poke and is beaten no run
40.2 1 Boult to Rayudu slower ball, floated up outside off, driven past the right of point 1 run

Tim nelson: “After last series, I was expecting that atleast our team will give fierce competition to India but sadly it has been cakewalk for India till now. Have tickets for fourth odi but I will pass on that now :(”

40.1 0 Boult to Rayudu length outside off, steered to point no run

Kez: “Time for a Rayudu vs Karthick poll? My vote goes to Karthick. Can anchor the innings but also provide power hitting at the end.”

End of Over No.40 India 218/3 This Over (6 runs)

39.6 0 Ferguson to Karthik full outside off, almost a yorker, he jams his bat down on it but misses no run
39.5 4 Ferguson to Karthik short ball and despite the angle it is pulled imperiously in front of square. Didn’t climb high enough, that one FOUR
39.4 0 Ferguson to Karthik another short ball, angled away, but he drops his hands and watches it into the keeper’s gloves no run
39.3 1 Ferguson to Rayudu short ball, hurries onto to Rayudu, who is struck on the gloves but does well to keep it down 1 run
39.2 1 Ferguson to Karthik short outside off, steered to third-man, who is quite wide 1 run
39.1 0 Ferguson to Karthik length on the pads, gets on his toes and tucks it away to midwicket no run

End of Over No.39 India 212/3 This Over (11 runs)

38.6 4 Boult to Rayudu short and another powerful pull shot in front of square. All along the ground from Rayudu FOUR
38.5 1 Boult to Karthik full on middle, slower ball, he was into the drive early and gets an inside edge down to fine-leg 1 run
38.4 1 Boult to Rayudu length outside off, punched to deep cover 1 run
38.3 0 Boult to Rayudu slower ball on middle, picked and defended off the front foot no run
